Dyadic nonverbal synchrony during pre and post music therapy interventions and its relationship to self-reported therapy readiness.Sun Sun Yap, Fabian T. Ramseyer, Jörg Fachner, Clemens Maidhof, Wolfgang Tschacher & Gerhard Tucek - 2022 - Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 16:912729.
Nonverbal interpersonal synchronization has been established as an important factor in therapeutic relationships, and the differentiation of who leads the interaction appears to provide further important information. We investigated nonverbal synchrony – quantified as the coordination of body movement between patient and therapist. This was observed in music therapy dyads, while engaged in verbal interaction before and after a music intervention in the session. We further examined associations with patients’ self-reported therapy readiness at the beginning of the session. Eleven neurological (...)

Nonverbal synchrony in subjects with hearing impairment and their significant others.Christiane Völter, Kirsten Oberländer, Sophie Mertens & Fabian T. Ramseyer - 2022 - Frontiers in Psychology 13.
IntroductionHearing loss has a great impact on the people affected, their close partner and the interaction between both, as oral communication is restricted. Nonverbal communication, which expresses emotions and includes implicit information on interpersonal relationship, has rarely been studied in people with hearing impairment. In psychological settings, non-verbal synchrony of body movements in dyads is a reliable method to study interpersonal relationship.Material and methodsA 10-min social interaction was videorecorded in 39 PHI and their significant others. Nonverbal synchrony, which means the (...)

    Contemporary Philosophy and the Christian Faith: I. T. RAMSEY.I. T. Ramsey - 1965 - Religious Studies 1 (1):47-61.
I am not so insular and I hope not so presumptuous as to suppose that there is no contemporary philosophy apart from that empiricism which dominates very much of Great Britain, North America and Scandinavia. So let us notice that contemporary philosophy embraces broadly three points of view, though it will be part of my argument that they largely combine in the lessons they have to teach us, and in many of their implications for theology.

  13. Classical and Quantum Theories of Spin.Fabián H. Gaioli & Edgardo T. Garcia Alvarez - 1998 - Foundations of Physics 28 (10):1539-1550.
A great effort has been devoted to formulating a classical relativistic theory of spin compatible with quantum relativistic wave equations. The main difficulty in connecting classical and quantum theories rests in finding a parameter that plays the role of proper time at a purely quantum level. We present a partial review of several proposals of classical and quantum spin theories from the pioneering works of Thomas and Frenkel, revisited in the classical BMT work, to the semiclassical model of Barut and (...)

Words About God: The Philosophy of Religion.Ian T. Ramsey - 2011 - Wipf and Stock Publishers.
In a time when more and more people are discovering they can have a rational morality without an orthodox God, these twenty-four essays reappraise the whole character of Christian ethics and criticize the traditional underpinning of morality by religion. Edited by Ian T. Ramsey, professor of philosophy at Oxford University, the volume is a valuable sequel to the well-known New Essays in Philosophical Theology. The contributors include atheists, agnostics, and Christians. Among them are Ninian Smart, R. B. Braithwaite, Ronald Hepburn, (...)

    Addendum to ‘did cicero “proscribe” Marcus antonius?’.John T. Ramsey - 2021 - Classical Quarterly 71 (1):452-454.
This note adduces three passages in Seneca the Elder to reinforce a demonstration in CQ 69, 793–8001 that the text of Plin. HN 7.117 has suffered corruption in one of its clauses and requires emendation to restore Pliny's intent. This additional evidence concerns a trope employed by declaimers which could have predisposed a scribe to alter Pliny's text to state that Cicero proscribed Mark Antony. Such a statement has no place in a list of achievements that otherwise all belong to (...)

    ‘Beware the Ides of March!’: an astrological prediction?John T. Ramsey - 2000 - Classical Quarterly 50 (02):440-.
This paper will examine the circumstances that inspired the famous utterance attributed to the haruspex Spurinna, ‘Beware the Ides of March!'1 Recently the argument has been made that this warning to Caesar was based upon an astrological calculation, rather than on the usual arts of an haruspex who read signs of the future by inspecting the entrails of sacrificial animals or by interpreting bolts of lightning and portents . As intriguing as this astrological theory is, I am convinced that it (...)

    Did Cicero ‘Proscribe’ Marcus Antonius?John T. Ramsey - 2019 - Classical Quarterly 69 (2):793-800.
Pliny's celebration of Cicero's consular achievements contains a striking anomaly, namely the assertion that Cicero proscribed Marcus Antonius(HN7.117). That statement turns Cicero, the victim of Antonius’ murderous vendetta, into the one who wielded the executioner's axe, and it abruptly shifts the focus of the passage from 63 to 43b.c.Two slight corrections to the Latin text can eliminate the intrusion of the proscriptions by substituting a reference to the control Cicero exercised in 63 over Gaius Antonius, his consular colleague and an (...)
